In need of some Jamz

I think I need to start working out (on a regular basis) again. I don’t particularly enjoy working out. When I’m in a gym, I feel like I’m going nowhere (literally) fast. But as I get older, I’m actually feeling my metabolism slow down to a being a little faster than a speeding slug. And my love of chocolate, baked goods and carbs in general seems to increase exponentially day by day. I’m also not ready to confront my family history of heart attacks and diabetes anytime in the next couple of decades because I know I’d be a terribly non-compliant patient. Since I REFUSE to deprive myself of delicious foods, I have realized that I must pay for this by working out. So dear fellow bloggers – I need your help. The only way I can keep up with high paced workouts is by music. So tell me your favourite songs to work out to or just madly dance around to! I’m open to pretty much all genres of music – 70s, 80s, 90s, top 40s, dance, pop, rock, hip hop – anything goes as long as it’s got a good beat and it’s fast! Looking forward to all your suggestions and not hating my work outs :)

Technotronic, "Pump up the Jam"

Black Box, just about anything, but Ride on Time is fast (from Dreamland)

Sure, they're oldies, but goodies.

Off I go to share cookies and cocoa at the office...at least they're not at home!

BTW I have to go low-carb every so often to get the weight down. I love carbs but they stick right around the butt and abdomen, and I have the family history, too.

I go to Itunes and get the top 40 that have been turned into workout tracks- 140bpm or something like that. Then you get your stride in rhythm with the music and just give 'er. I hear you on the slowing metabolism thing... wait until you're in your 30's - it gets even worse. I'm finding the older I get, the lazier I get, and the less I care. Usually I'm good if I can make myself get ON the machine and turn on my music.

Best of luck!

A lot of Muse's singles are great for working out. Also, almost anything by The Faint.

This is basically my running/gym mix. Some of the songs are peppier than others but they all have a pretty solid beat.

My current favorite running song is "Human". It's what I start every run with and now when I hear it I want to throw on my kicks and hit the road.

You just have to find the anthem that gets you out the door. =)

Hotel Yorba--White Stripes
Kiss With a Fist--Florence and the Machine

I like to workout to pandora. I usually just put in Fergie, Rise against or another band that is fairyly fast pace and go. I also refuse to give up my sweets and carbs....I often wonder how many calories I burn running around the in the ER

Since you're Canadian, anything by Deadmau5 will work.

I work out to a bunch of remixes.. a super disco albumn that has a long playing list of 80's songs that slowly transition from one to another.. have the same thing for Black Eyed Peas, and a few other groups that does a mashup of all their songs
